Privacy policy

Last updated

The short version: Workmode keeps what it needs to run — your account, what you choose to share, and a few technical details to keep speed tests honest. There are no ads, no analytics or tracking scripts, and your data is never sold. You can delete your account and personal data at any time.

1.What we collect

Your account. Your email address, name, profile picture and username. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, they share your name, email address and profile picture with us — nothing else.

Your profile, if you fill it in. A bio, links to your website, X or Telegram, and your home city.

What you share. Check-ins (the speed test result, and the place you picked), reviews and ratings, community posts and likes, and places you suggest.

Location, only when you ask. When you check in, or use “Places near me” or “Work now”, your device shares its position. With a check-in we store that position and its accuracy, to confirm you were really at the place.

Technical details. Your IP address is stored with sign-in sessions, speed tests, check-ins and ratings, and your browser type with sign-in sessions. We use these to stop abuse and to keep speed results trustworthy.

2.What is public

Your profile page shows your name, username, profile picture, bio, links, home city, check-in and review counts, badges, and the cities you have worked from.

Reviews, check-ins and posts appear on place pages and in the community feed under your name. “Who's in town” lists members who recently checked in or reviewed in a city, and members who set it as their home city.

Your exact position from a check-in is never shown — only the place you checked in at. Your email address and IP address are never shown.

3.Cookies and storage

Workmode uses a small number of cookies, all of them to make the site work:

  • Sign-in cookie — keeps you signed in.
  • wm_city — remembers which city to show you, and how we know.
  • wm_theme — remembers if you chose the light theme.

Your browser also stores the last position you shared, on your own device, so lists can be sorted by distance without asking again. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

4.Other services

Google and Facebook handle sign-in if you choose them. Their own privacy policies apply to that step.

Place information such as names, addresses and opening hours comes from Google and Foursquare.

Photos of places and cities are loaded from Google and Unsplash. Your browser requests them directly; we tell it not to send which page you were on.

5.Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data for as long as you have an account.

To delete your data, sign in, open your dashboard and choose “Delete account”. This permanently removes your account, sign-in sessions, profile, profile picture, reviews, posts and activity.

Speed test results and ratings you added stay on the places they describe, because other people rely on them — but they are no longer connected to you in any way.

If you cannot sign in, contact us and we will delete it for you.

6.Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. For anything important, we will say so on the site.
